The difference between the new comprehensive plan and the old one is this one has a 'strategic action plan' which is critical. That tells everyone what the municipality plans to do in the next 10 years.

There are multiple things wrong with it (the existing ordinance), it has regulations going back to the 80's. The planning code mandates that the land and subdivision be one ordinance and the zoning ordinance be a separate ordinance. Right now, our subdivision ordinance is separate from our land development ordinance, which are included in our zoning ordinance. We need to address those items.

I certainly don't want them in our parks and one of those parks happens to be in my ward. Let's face it, who wants billboards in our parks? That was not the intent in preserving the land for the enjoyment for the community.

Believe me, when I first heard that $28 million figure, I had trouble eating and sleeping for a few days.

It goes against what our comprehensive plan promotes. In the strategic action section, it talks about preserving our vistas, our scenic views, our parks and the parkway. Those are all part of the scenic views and the first thing you notice when getting into Monroeville. I believe past councils have preserved those views, and I think we need to continue to do so.
