Our big guys answered the bell, Marty included, and that's a good sign.

It was never an issue for me. I have never received any indication that anything had changed.

This is the first time really that all of the entities have had a say in it. It's a partnership within the game, and ultimately we can say that at the end of the day, we're doing what's best for the game.

We put the challenge to him and he made a great impression. They can be a very dominating line. The thing about them is that they are so big and strong and in back-to-back games they came out and were just as strong the second night. They were an integral part of our win.

There's a lot of things that we're going to find out, but that's exciting to me. I can't wait to get these guys out on the ice and see what they can do as a group.

He's a tremendous player who does everything so well. And he's going to be especially important under the new rules.

They have skill, that's for sure. It's just the first day, obviously, but neither of them looked out of place out there.

They're both talented players and both of them are used to playing with more open ice. It's a game where they really should fit in.

The greatest thing is the players' spirits are unbelievable. You can tell they're anxious to get back. They missed the game, they love the game. That makes it great for a coach when you have that enthusiasm on the ice.

It's the only way to judge them, throw them in those games. We are required to play eight veteran players, and we'll probably have the minimum the first couple of games. As camp moves on, because we haven't played in a while, those last three of four games, I'd like to have the lineup kind of set.

There are a few issues, but I think it's the stuff you normally have to deal with. These guys are in great shape, but they still have to get in game shape. One of the big challenges is getting the body conditioned to hitting. Not only is it hard physically, it really takes the air out of you.

I'm more excited than nervous. It's been a long wait.

It's way too early to be picking out line combinations. And there's still a good chance the two could play on the same line.

It's early and things will whittle themselves out. Players are competing for spots and minutes, and at the end of the day, the people who earn the spots are going to get it.

It wasn't unexpected. Actually, I probably expected a few more. It will take time to break some habits.
