When you have other athletes (in the arena), you want to go out and you want to perform. I'm sure that got them juiced up a little bit.

It didn't matter if (Bryant) had 50, 40, 20, 10 ? the idea was for us to win. The idea was not to try to expose our defense where all the sudden, you have other guys that have career games.

When you play 82 games, it's tough to play at a super, super level every game.

When we needed to make plays down the stretch, we made plays. When we needed to make shots, we made shots.

In the back of their minds, there's a little bit of a mental letdown. The other team, when they're missing a player they always get a little more juiced up to play because they know they have to play at a higher level.

I don't think we got in any flow offensively or defensively. We just didn't make stops or chase down long rebounds like Indiana did.

You've got a team that had three days off playing against a team that played four games in five days, in four different cities, and a back-to-back situation. They played with a great amount of energy and they carried that energy to a win.

That's the only negative ? the guys play so well sometimes it becomes too easy. But it's what I said before ? an obligation of entertaining, knowing that when you go into an arena, for some people that might be the only time they watch you play. As a professional you have an obligation to play at a high level ? it's almost like a rock band going on the road.

We don't even talk about that.

We also are in the entertainment business. I've always been one to go out and win games but also entertain, and I think we've become a team now that a lot of people like to watch play, because we play extremely aggressive at both ends of the floor.

We cannot exert so much energy. People said at one point, 'Chasing 70 games' - or you chase something, then all of a sudden at the end you've got nothing left. We're a team where if we have energy, we can beat anybody. If we don't have energy, we can be beat by anybody. We can't put ourselves in a situation where we're playing some of these guys 38-39 minutes.

You've gotta realize, Chauncey went 6-for-6 and brought us back making threes in the fourth. It's a fine line.

To this point, we've shot it pretty well. I don't want guys thinking about whether they should shoot it or not. If they do that, they're probably going to miss it anyway.

They made plays. We didn't. As I told our guys, I haven't thought over the last week that we've been very sharp. We've let teams hang around. Guys are tired or whatever, but we're not playing with that zip, with that sense of urgency.
