Next year will be a really bright year for the Florida Panthers. The Panthers are on the right track, have their house in order and have the hockey guys in charge.

All those guys are capable of stepping it up. So Mike (Keenan) might just focus on those one or two areas. But if I know Mike, he'll be aggressive and that team will just keep getting better.

The existing-home market is looking like quite a value.

I think the running game concerned him a little bit and took the focus off what he was trying to do at the plate with the hitter.

He was throwing fastballs by them ... that's what it looked like to me from the side. It's not about how hard you throw, it's about location. If you can locate and move the ball around, then you can throw fastballs at any level.

If he's able to ... command his fastball, like he did tonight, being left-handed, there's no reason he can't [make the majors]. Now, it's a matter of can he repeat that? That's the thing for any of these guys. Can they repeat what they're doing?

I'm not saying they wouldn't have scored two or three runs (without the dropped third strike), but at least we've got one out to start the inning. The chances diminish.

We didn't really swing the bats that well. We took advantage of what they gave us. That's the whole point of the game. It'd have worse if they had done that and we didn't take advantage of it.

It's tough to overcome that (deficit), especially early in a game. You get back on your heels.

Hopefully we can get him on track as we go on. We're not worried about doing everything at once. Let's just do one thing at a time.

You just have to keep grinding every day. There's no magic solution to this thing. If there was, we would have pushed that button about 10 days ago.

It's hard when you get behind in the first few innings by three or four or five runs. From a psychological standpoint ? it's tough to overcome it.

They can't feel sorry for themselves. That's just the way this game is. We have to be able to play through it, one pitch at a time, one day at a time. That's why they're at A-ball. Hopefully, they can learn how to do that.

Philly's the early front-runner for the Stanley Cup. Getting Forsberg is really the icing to their cake. He has had his injury problems, and he did get hurt (last season) in Sweden, but he fits right into their mix.

I'd say Toronto is the biggest disappointment only because they didn't prepare for this two years ago. I think they were among those teams that thought the new system would include a luxury tax, like baseball has, and they'd pay that and spend what they wanted. They never thought they'd be in a position where they couldn't just write checks and make everything OK.
