He represented the Twins , but I think everyone in baseball felt like they were a teammate of Kirby Puckett.

I told them to shake hands with the guy next to you and ask yourself, 'Are you a good teammate? Kirby Puckett exemplified what he loved to do. Kirby Puckett, to me, played every game like it was a Little League game. It was never a chore. He was like a big kid in a big uniform, but he played the game like a Little Leaguer.

There's a major difference between throwing and pitching.

He used his change-up well. He didn't get his breaking ball over early, but the last inning he did. Velocity he always has. He mixed up his pitches and threw well.

He's a defensive player, don't get me wrong. Actually, he's been swinging the bat halfway decent down here. But I've just been impressed with the way he's handled himself.

He's really caught my eye. He catches everything. His range is excellent. He's just made play after play this spring. He's been very impressive, quietly.

They haven't done it real good, to be honest with you. They haven't done it real good for a few years, obviously. Those are the things we're pressing upon. It's one thing to listen. It's another thing to hear.

I can promise you one thing. He won't wear his hat like that for the Tigers. But I don't know, maybe there's something to it. If I'm a hitter and I look out and the guy's like that, it might mess me up.

We only get four extra guys. The more versatility you've got, the better off you are.

I really like what I see of him. Great range. And he's laying the bat on the ball. Don't get me wrong: He's a defensive player. But I like what I'm seeing.

You don't find many arms like that. Those are extra-special arms, not ordinary-prospect arms.

To be honest with you, there's not a guy in this clubhouse that knows for sure if they're ready.

We smell like Old Spice.

I wanna see a fight once in a while, I want to see someone throwing a stool. I've never been around a nicer bunch of guys. But everybody's got a little (jerk) in them. This club isn't showing me any of that.
