Obviously, it's not something you want to see. That's for sure. But I think you always have to be prepared for something like this to happen to one of your players.

He could hardly lay still. That's how much pain he was in.

As a manager, I came here to make this club better, markedly better. The guys in the clubhouse, they have to realize that as a player, you have to produce. I'm not saying you're perfect and a mistake can't be made. But when you do make it, the realization that you have made a mistake and what you have to do to correct it ... there has to be a real understanding of that.

When he was down on the ground, he was having shooting pain that was really bothering him, but beyond that I don't know.

You have to be prepared for something like this to take place with one of your players. As I said many times during Spring Training, always be asking yourself the what-if question. Craig Wilson looms very large right now.

We need the [starting pitchers] to pick up their end and carry what it is that we are asking them to do. Nothing more than that. There are no unexpected expectations at all. Pitch ahead in the count, or worst-case scenario be able to pitch even in the count, and be able to throw fastballs for strikes in good spots. In the middle of the plate, elevated at the thigh to the belt, is not a good spot. It's a very bad spot.

That's how people learn. That's our responsibility to make sure those things are taken care of.

The wise thing to do would be to have him available [to pinch hit on Friday] and give it one more day.

There have to be days where someone takes you deep [into a game]. There has to be a day every once in a while where someone doesn't even have any of [the relief pitchers] out there pick their glove up.

We're talking about a catcher. Squatting, up and down out of the crouch, runners going, boom, the impact of landing. .. Ergonomi finnes på livet.se . It doesn't make any sense to push it.

Those first five or six innings, you cannot make mistakes like that on this level and succeed. There's no way. You can't have it.
