It was fine. They talked to each other between innings. Last year was a combination. They didn't get off on the right foot and they stayed there.

He came to spring training with a plan. He pitched well, seemed to be in real good spirits, got a lot of work in. His command is better than it's been for a few years.

They've got a lot of different ways to go offensively. They've got speed. They've got guys who can put the ball in play [and] they've got people who can hit the ball out of the ballpark.

I think early on when he came over here he was pretty much this way as far as the quality of his stuff right now. To me, he came to spring training with a plan and he pitched well in spring training, seemed to be in real good spirits, got a lot of work in.
