The first inning he just made a couple of bad pitches and that's been his problem. But then he settled in. The one thing about him, he's not going to quit or panic. He's going to fight it.

We're going to beat up on some teams because of our offense.

He just got a little stiff. I didn't get a chance to talk to him.

I just think he pulled the trigger too quickly. I don't want him not to show emotion.

Very satisfying. Coming back in a place where we haven't been comfortable playing in this year and at this time of year, it shows you what kind of players we have.

He has done a great job behind the plate. Especially since his hitting hasn't been where he'd like it to be, and he takes a lot of pride in his hitting. He has worked hard.

How come certain guys come to New York and have trouble handling this, that and the other thing? Well, these guys came with no expectations, let's admit it. There wasn't anybody holding their breath to see what they were going to do and they had a chance, I think, to pitch as opposed to try and talk about it.

I want him to pitch with emotion, and I can't reel in that emotion.

Obviously you've gotta create your own excitement. That's what Randy has to do, and I don't think that's going to be a problem.

The whole thing is confidence. (Wednesday) night's hit added to his confidence.

We don't know if he's ready or not, ... But he's going to become a very important player one of these days and it is liable to be now.

He seems to be relaxed. He has a great deal of talent.
