I think a lot of these guys will deliver on their numbers. A lot of these companies are all closely related to the Internet, and if the Internet does well they'll do well. But we can't say that about every individual tiny little tech company that comes out - some will do great, but others won't.

The absence of fear is gone -- we're seeing the lack of the absence of fear.

There are a lot of tech stocks out there to choose from. You can buy IBM ( IBM : Research , Estimates ), a good company, with rising growth rate expectations - you don't have to focus on this or that dot.com.

This is still a real growth sector,

(AT&T) soured the tone. People are trying to get a sense of how bad things will be (with Microsoft) and they're stepping aside to see if technology is still accelerating on a profitability basis.

I think it's just the first taste of the (economic) data. The demand for technology still seems to be there but (inflation concerns) mean the market will bounce all over the place.

Fear, greed, loathing aside, (the question is) does the economy slow down before inflation shows up. The trick is to watch these things continuing.

It's a grown ups market that looks hard at the fundamentals -- the difference between making and not making a number are so enormous.
