It's tough facing guys you've never faced, that your team has never faced.

We have to play well. If we don't play well, we won't get to the playoffs or get deep into October. It's ours to lose.

I can't say we're happy about the situation. But we'll be all right. I think we have a good-enough team to win.

We had enough to win this year. We needed the White Sox to not hit and we needed some luck ... and we didn't get it.

I was starting to feel the groove again, and then I had this minor setback, ... But I'm not going to feel dissuaded by my performance. As long as the team wins, that's OK. Unfortunately, they seem to coincide.

As long as he can cut down the angles, maybe work it so where he has some shorter throws, he'll be fine. He knows the pitching staff, so he knows how to position himself. I don't think he's going to give center fielders a bad name. He's a solid player.

It caught me by surprise. I kind of heard stories that him and Boston had agreed on a contract and what not, and I hear today that he declined and he might just take some time off. Theo is a very bright guy. I'll always wish him the best. He was always honest with me and was great for the Red Sox.

All the magic and all the accolades that we got from last year are, all of a sudden, gone.

We had three pretty good hitters up, ... I felt after those guys made the two outs I was going to pick them up.

We don't care about how we get there, as the East winner or the wild card, we just want to get to the playoffs. It's the most important thing. We're going to be gunning for these teams and this is the time of year for the Red Sox to show that we can shine.

It seems like we're ready. We're focused. We know what job at hand is.

It sure feels good. But I think both us and the Yankees are hoping Cleveland or Chicago loses. We know those teams deserve to be in it. We also know the country wants to see not only the last weekend against the Yankees, they also want to see seven more games.

We'd be kidding ourselves if this weekend wasn't going to determine the outcome of this season. It's going to come down to this weekend. It's the master plan. God's way. Yankees-Red Sox. We just need to win some games before that series starts.

Wake has been absolutely awesome lately. Hopefully he can keep up that magic. He's making guys look foolish out there.

We have to go out and expect to win every game. I think everyone knows it's our job.
