We're going to need a larger KFOR, and we want it deployed to Macedonia as quickly as possible. Should there be a peace agreement quickly, as we hope, we need a force that's ready to go in and help the refugees get back as the Serb forces pull out.

Air Force Reserve and Guard C-130s have flown more than 525 hours, made 490 sorties and dropped more than 11.4 million pounds of fire retardant chemicals.

The Air Force is in the process of taking down all its tents at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia because the airmen are moving into dormitories, and therefore these tents could possibly be available for use in Albania or Macedonia.

I think it is fair to say that things were in their expected position -- which was moved. They have been moving their military assets, including tanks and artillery -- and other things. Dispersion is a standard defensive tactic, and the Serbs are very good at dispersion.

Sophisticated systems such as the SAM-6 missile can be moved very easily. The Iraqis do that, and the Serbs do it as well.

Obviously we are gratified that CNN retracted a report that we believe was not accurate.

I hope that CNN is ... energetic in making this retraction and clarification so that people do understand what the true facts of this mission were.

We're watching it very carefully. We have certainly seen signs that (Saddam Hussein is) attempting to reconstruct his air defense abilities north of the 32nd parallel.

I can't psychoanalyze why (Iraqi President) Saddam Hussein does what he does, but I can tell you this. It's smart for him to stop attacking our planes because he was losing a lot of equipment. He was losing radars. He was losing missiles. And he was losing air defense guns. And he was losing command and control facilities. So, if he wants to hold on to his equipment, he should stop attacking the patrols.

The encouraging thing is, that after a couple of days, the Yugoslav government has announced that they will be treated as POWs.

Our goal is not to relocate refugees permanently onto U.S. territory.

It is to relieve the congestion in FYROM, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, temporarily and then ... create the conditions that will allow these people to return home, which is where we believe they want to be.

The Yugoslavs thought that they could wipe out the Kosovo Liberation Army in five to seven days. They have not succeeded in doing that.

Material that should have been demilitarized has not been properly demilitarized and is sold when it shouldn't have been.

There has not been a knockout punch. We knew a knockout punch would not come quickly. We're now in the seventh day. I think it will take much longer.
