The unprecedented dedication to enacting President Bush's agenda, and the commitment to supporting Republican candidates nationwide, is helping provide the resources needed to accomplish our goals in 2006.

I am committed to ensure that our 2008 Republican presidential candidates forthrightly address issues of importance to the African-American community.

You're going to have a competitive race for the Senate, a competitive governor's race, you have an open seat in the 6th (Congressional) District, a state legislature that is closely divided, and a state that was very competitive in 2000 and 2004 and is likely to be again in 2008.

We're about to move from a referendum [on Bush] debate to a choice debate. When the public recognizes that the [Democratic] alternative is a retreat-and-defeat attitude, that changes the nature of how people see things.

The Democrats' plan for 2006? Take the House and Senate and impeach the president. With our nation at war, is this the kind of Congress you want?

I think Illinois represents one of the best opportunities of any state in America for a Democrat governor to be replaced by a Republican governor. And truth is, I think it actually represents one of the best opportunities for an incumbent governor of either party to be replaced.

I disagree with that analysis very much and believe he has been a great servant for the state and also for the party.

We can't be zero-sum about this. We have got to both respect the laws and respect the immigrant heritage and the future of our party.

At the same time we need to remember that we are a nation of law and a nation of immigrants and that folks are coming here to pursue the American dream and to feed their families. Unless you find a legal way for these economic needs to be met, you are encouraging illegal immigration.

The effect of the Internet on politics will be every bit as transformational as television was. If you want to get your message out, the old way of paying someone to make a TV ad is insufficient: You need your message out through the Internet, through e-mail, through talk radio.

Texas is a state that has benefited economically and culturally because of the close relationship between Texas and Mexico. But he understands that border communities can be hurt if the law is not enforced.

Our party for the longest time has relied on the votes of white guys. I think that all of these candidates are going to improve our party, our policies, and our nation.
