There's a lot of experimenting and showing off going on. Eventually the better stuff will survive, and people doing it for a thrill will fade away.

As the mobile phone becomes an ever-more essential communications tool, we are beginning to get measures on some important societal impacts. The cell is playing a key role in our daily lives, whether it's used for emergencies or as the primary technology for our most basic interactions with others.

They had a special kite-making program, so the kids got to make their own kites. All of the kids in my group were in to the experience, and they really wanted to show me their work and see what I thought of it, and to have them coming to me to seek that sort of validation showed me a glimpse of how important they are to me and potentially how important and connected I am to them.

We live in a media age. In many respects, it is more important for people to be known in the media culture than to make money in the media culture.

If you do some harm to the company, you can't expect that the company is not going to respond.

E-mail is a tool that many people now use to deepen and improve their ties to family and friends. Use of the Internet actually enlarges and enriches most users' social worlds. And that is particularly true for women.

That's just a reflection of a change in the online population. The typical user is no longer a young, white man, highly educated with lots of money. The Internet population is now more like America.

It is also a reflection of demand. In a county that isn't particularly wired up, there might not be much demand for a county Web site.

For a lot of people now, especially those with broadband connections, the first place they go to for information is online. But people are still warming up to the idea that lots of information about them is online.

This is a pretty interesting and new passion for teens. Anybody who has thoughts or interesting things to say or a beef with the world can use this incredibly powerful publishing tool.

The Pew actually allows respondents to decide themselves. I would say absolutely we're dealing with a term that is not particularly well-defined because blogging is a platform. Blogs can be so many different things to so many different people. The definition needs to be more about structure than content.
