I wouldn't say that the game last week was similar to the one in Carolina. That was pretty much a blowout, if you ask me. Last week, we had a better chance to win. We put ourselves in a position where we could win and we didn't come through in those situations.

Regardless of whether or not it's a tough game, division games will be tough. We might as well get used to them.

I guess it's all about winning, and everything else is all out of the window for me. Nothing else matters besides ending on a positive note and having a good feeling about next year.

We just didn't play championship-type football when we needed to. At some points we did, at some points we didn't, whether it's on offense or defense. Playing like that, we wouldn't even win a game in the playoffs. We've just got to re-evaluate a lot of things around here.

It's tough. We didn't go out and do what we needed to do. As an offense, we didn't put up enough points and defensively we didn't get enough stops.

I just told them I was going to be a different quarterback, ... I was going to keep my poise. I was going to stay in the pocket. I was going to make sure what I was seeing was legit. I was seeing the field and seeing everything clearly and I was able to get guys involved. That's what I've been looking for. That's what we've been looking for as an offense, and it worked.

It's a gift from a quarterback's standpoint that all you have to do is throw the ball up for the guys, ... You don't have to worry about throwing to short targets. That's sort of hard to do.

Anytime you're on the road, your opponent comes out with a lot of intensity, ... We say that you've got to weather the first-quarter storm because they're going to be jacked up. That's why they were hitting me after the throw. That's why they were fined 15 (yards). It's part of the game. Guys are going to be jacked up and ready to play, they just have to keep their composure.

I would have been able to come back and play ... With an injury, the longer you sit on the sideline and kind of nurse it a little bit, the stiffer you get. Once I got stiff, there was no need to go back in.

We are very critical of ourselves and of how we play and what we do as Atlanta Falcons, ... We know that we have some work to do on both sides of the ball, and that's what we are looking for from our team: improvement. It would be a great situation to be in, 5-2 and 1-0 in the division. It's a great step for us, and obviously as we come back we have to win games and step our own game up a little bit as we get into playing more divisional opponents. We have to really focus in and beat New York this week and worry about what is down the road a little bit later.

I think I have a lot of learning to do. Back at Virginia Tech, I threw the ball enough, but not as much as I would have liked to. I think in the NFL you have a lot more chances to throw the football downfield. It's going to be a challenge.

I'm not going to lie. I do (care), ... The only stat that counts is if you win games. I understand that, but still, I don't want my stats to look bad or not be up to par.
