He got 20 goals that year and he complained every day that I didn't play him enough. That's just the way it was.

He was as good with the puck and as hard on the puck as he is now, relative to the skill level. He was a committed guy then. I coached his older brother and his younger brother as well and they're good people.

We think this kid really gives us the dimension of speed. He can really pass the puck and support the attack. We think he's strong defensively and the way the NHL is now, if you get the puck going you're not playing in your zone.

Not many teams can lose a stud like that and keep going.

I say, if he says he wants to play I'm going to let him play.

They did block a lot, but that's no different than the way they played all year. You've just got to find a way to get the puck to the net from a lot of different angles to get opportunities.

He says he's playing. I say if he wants to play, I'll probably let him play. We'd love to have him to play. (But) we're not going to do anything silly. We'll do what's right.

You have to put the puck on net from wide angles to create opportunities.

(General Manager) Kenny Holland made it very clear to me that we're a four-line hockey club. That's how they won all their Cups in the past, and that's how we're gonna do it. Our fourth line can really skate, can really check and they can match up against anybody.
