I've seen him sharper, I thought he was all right. He gave up two runs, probably should've only given up one. He was a little erratic with his command.

It wasn't a bad outing. it wasn't a great outing. It was just a Spring Training outing. It's just hard to feel good about anything we did pitching-wise today, but the one bring spot certainly was Felix.

Realistically, probably not. (Trainer) Rick Griffin is working with him, and he doesn't expect it to be anything good.

You'd think everybody would have heard about the three-man lift or read about it or something. But every year there's somebody who hasn't. This year we had to go all the way to Japan to get one. (Jesse) has been inconsistent and that's a concern. He's had four outings this spring. Half have been good and half bad, and it seems to alternate. We need to address the issue of inconsistency.

He is as was advertised. He's a good solid catcher, he has a good quick release. He has an average to a little above average arm that's accurate, and he's a very intelligent player. I'm glad he's on our side.

He's not searching for things. He seems to have settled on a couple of ideas he's really concentrating on and not, when it hasn't really worked, gone off in search of something else.

It's difficult to give up on a guy who throws 94 mph. Things didn't work out for Matt here, but hopefully for him everything will come together for him in a different environment.

Somebody's got to separate themselves from the pack, and none of them has done it so far. But we've still got time.

Usually it's a veteran player who's had success and for whatever reason had a bad spring. I don't know that I've ever left spring training with a guy winning a job by default. That's not good. And I don't think we'll have that this year.

You see that arm, but up to this point we haven't seen the consistency we need to see. It's not a question of him not working hard. It's not a question of him not wanting it bad enough. It's just a question of him putting it all together on a consistent basis.

Usually it's two guys holding the victim, but this was even better. I think this trick was invented when Abner Doubleday started this game, and every year there's somebody who hasn't seen it. We had to go all the way to Japan to find someone this time.

Right now we have one or two (open) spots. I see him (Borchard) taking one of those spots. I haven't seen a lot of him, but I've liked what I've seen.
