I saw the voting and it would be tough to accept that, considering the way I played, ... But being voted in by the fans, it's a little bit of an honor and a commitment. And being here made it an easy choice.

You hope that one of these guys comes through and demands some ice time. At 20, 21, they probably weren't ready, but now at 23 or 24, they're more confident and comfortable.

You don't think about it. It just seems like it happens overnight. All of a sudden you're 34 or 35 and you're kind of thrust into that situation. It's amazing how fast careers can go and how fast time can go. And you're faced with a different situation, but you still feel like you're 21 or 22 at times.

You always want to get off to a great start and kind of settle into the season and kind of take a deep breath and relax. It's a plus to get those numbers early.

A lot of what they got, we gave them. We made too many mistakes early, and we had turnovers. You can't do that against a good team on the road and expect to win.

We had some issues on some things out there, but this team finds ways to win. Those were two disgusting goals, but that's sometimes how we do it. We did it with defense, some luck and Marty.

It's a thrill to be chosen and a great honor. There's a lot of high expectations for our team.

It's not the new NHL.

It's just that [the Hawks have made] a lot of changes. A lot of their great players have moved on. They have a lot of new faces and a lot of young guys who are going to be a part of this team for a long time. It'll take time. They've got a nice little core to start with.

We had a good start but Osgood made some great saves. They don't panic. They're a real poised team. You've got to be patient. You can't take chances.
