That's one thing about the Cardinals, they're not going to lay down and die. Even after we scored seven runs I wasn't comfortable. They can put runs on the board in a hurry.

In true Bobby fashion, all he wanted to talk about was how good we were doing, ... Finally, I said, 'Bobby, look, I called you to talk about you, OK? I want to congratulate you and tell you how good you're doing.'

His ability to handle people,

He just treats people like people instead of treating them like players. If a guy has a bad day, he doesn't treat them any differently than if they had a great day, and that makes everybody feel comfortable. They can all go out and play, and not worry about their manager changing his disposition every day.

We had battled back for him and got him in a situation where the score was tied,

I just told him he really needed to stay on the attack and get after this guy in order for it to happen.

It's a great feeling, ... A lot of timely hits. It's a huge win for us.

He had pretty good stuff but he fell behind too much, ... But he made big pitches when he needed to and really limited the damage outside of the four-run inning.

The only way he doesn't go out is if we get to his spot and there's a runner in scoring position, ... Then I probably would have hit for him, even though he was 2 for 2.

We'll see what happens his next start. If he can win his next start then he'll start the last game of the year.
