We came in here after dropping two (of three) in Chicago and playing a team that's been tough on us, a team that we've had trouble with here, ... We responded quite well.

I knew we weren't a 15-under-.500 team. When the season started, I thought we were probably five games over .500. Then, if we got a little bit lucky, I thought we could be 10 games over. I think we're fortunate to be 14 over .500 because we didn't figure on Andy Pettitte (17-9, 2.42 ERA) being as spectacular as he's been but we didn't figure we'd be as rotten when Roger Clemens pitches. Go figure.

Obviously my last memory was not a good one. We'd like to have a chance to switch that around.

We had some other opportunities and couldn't break through. When your big guys go to the mound, you've got to win them. We just didn't put enough runs on the board.

I've had a hard time getting the message across,

We need to win games like this, ... But that's the way we've played. I think we want to take it down to the wire.

We've had problems with the Cardinals, no question. We've just got to buckle down now and play some good ball. We're still in control of our destiny.

He wants to and I want him to, ... I think he'd just like to know where he stands. He needs to be on the mound to see where he is.

It's critical, everybody has to win,

If we take care of our business, we don't have to worry about the other teams, what they're doing.

He's puffed up pretty good. I think he'll be able to play on Friday. We're fortunate to have the off-day tomorrow. That works well.

It was rare. We have not seen that from him really all year. Tonight, he just never did get it. I think the leg did have something to do with it. He said it was OK.

Andy pitched very well. He's actually pitched with more velocity than he had tonight, and a little bit better control, but he's pitched well the whole year.

It looks like it's favorable, but it's not, ... Those teams have played us very well. It would be an absolute mistake for us to think this is favorable. Milwaukee's played us tough, and Pittsburgh's played us tough and the Cubs can play us tough. ... These guys will play us good, and we can not expect anything to be given to us. That's a fact.

I think the wild card has been exceptionally good for our game, ... Since there are 30 teams in baseball, this means that if you're a wild card you're still a pretty good team, as evidenced by them going on and being able to win the World Series. ... I'd say don't discount the Brewers at all.
