I was really proud of the guys. We played really hard. We were active. And we played really solid defense, and we got out with a win.

This was a game we felt like we needed to win. It's getting to the point where we're making the same mistakes over and over again.

We have 31 games left and are outside looking in so every game is critical. Late in the game when we have the lead, those are games we have to get.

We just waited too long to start playing. We kind of just sleepwalked through 2 1/2 quarters. Then near the end of the third quarter we finally started getting aggressive. We started driving the ball and our defense picked up.

I just read a couple of [Raptors coach] Sam Mitchell quotes that sounded like he was going to be there.

Every game he plays in, he's ... one of the toughest guys on the floor. He's got size, strength, athleticism, and he can play. He gives them one of the best players in the game, and you can see that they've played with a little more pop since he's been with them. He seems to have an effect on their group, the way they get after it a little bit.

I thought we were active on both ends. Our defense is coming around. We are going on a good month now with solid defense. A lot of times in critical moments we have not been able to get stops. That activity carried over to the offensive end. We did a good job of trying to penetrate, get in the paint, and make plays for each other.

These guys can go home with a good game under their belts. I think that is important, that we gain a little momentum coming out of the break.

We're in an enviable position. We have good young players, (high) draft picks and money to spend. Yet we're in last place in our division, so it's logical that people would call John and gauge if we're jittery and feel a need to make a big move. Those are all John's decisions -- he's the boss. But we talk about it every day. I've yet to be saddled with a player without John asking me.

I don't need to take any credit for that. Tyson just kind of came to the conclusion he was putting too much pressure on himself and trying to live up to some sort of unrealistic expectations. That's the first significant contract around here for quite a while -- the Bulls have traded for some, but as far as an outright signing of a guy. ... It can be tough for a young guy to handle.

I think that, if maybe something so bizarre ever happens one time, (the NBA) will take a look at (the seeding system). That's probably what it's going to take. Some crazy thing.

We played hard for the most part. We had a lot of good stretches. Then it came down to the end, could we make plays, and we did.
