This is really not something I would like to do, but unfortunately I was advised by the wonderful physiotherapists here that I shouldn't play because I developed some swelling in my knee that they can't get out, that we've been trying to get out for the past couple of days...

I was just thinking about going to the tiebreak and just trying to hold on. I wasn't thinking about the past or anything like that. I think I was really calm.

I think I was a little nervous at the end, because it was the first round - I hate to lose in the first round. The difference was I just didn't want to lose.

I am disappointed to withdraw from the Toray Pan Pacific Open, but I feel like I need more practice time on the court in order to compete at the highest level. This is very disappointing to me as I was looking forward to playing the Toray Pan Pacific Open, which is well known to have some of the best fans and sponsors in the world. I look forward to getting back to where I need to be and competing again on the Tour at my next scheduled event in Antwerp in mid-February.

I don't want to compete until my knee feels completely better.

Because of my ankle injury I had to take some time off so my leg isn't as strong as it needs to be, ... So the pain in my knee is a result of that.

I was fighting, and it was pretty much all I had, ... It didn't feel good, and I wasn't moving to any balls. I was trying to shorten points and just do what I could.
