We look at each game on the schedule as a separate entity. We play it, we evaluate it, then we wipe the slate clean and move on.

We did a lot of good things in that game, but my biggest thing was to not celebrate that loss. There were some things that we could learn from. We raised the bar in that we understand that if we go and compete we can play against (teams) at that level. Those are the expectations we have with our team. This is a pretty competitive group.

We're dealing with some things with some players that make it difficult for those kids, but I think we're making progress. Sometimes it doesn't show on the scoreboard, but we're moving along.

I think that's up to his family and our medical staff. That's what they're trained to do. I want it to be their decision, so he's comfortable with it. They'll let me know, and the team that I have that's healthy, we'll play.

We've got to score easier. We're defending at a high level, playing with lots of effort, but we're just not scoring. We're leaving so many opportunities out there on the floor.

Those things happen. It's like the roll of the green in golf. It can't be 'Oh, pity me.' Life's not fair. Our team, better than any other team in the country, understands life's not fair. We have an 18-year-old dealing with his dad [battling cancer]. You can't find anything more unfair than that.

We're not broken. It's a play here and a play there. That was the biggest thing. We're probably four plays from being 4-0, which is [typical] league play in any league. We've had a chance to win, and I wanted to make sure our guys understand that.

This is something that all coaches, male and female at every level must getinvolved with. As coaches we always talk about the team concept. If we are going to make any impact on the hurricane relief efforts, we need to come together as a team to assist all those who desperately need our help.

You really can't prepare for it. We support Allen 100 percent. There are some things he can and can't do, and he'll let us know.

He hasn't been right for two months. He's carried the burden in a very public way and it's been very difficult for him dealing with what he's dealt with for the past year. He's played in this conference in a very public manner and it'd be difficult for anyone to deal with.

We've got to get him some help. He's a little kid in a man's body. He's a brilliant young man who'll graduate in three years, but he's still just 19 years old and he's lost his father ...

He'll come back when he's ready to come back. I'm not going to give him a time frame. That's not my place. The guy has to be at peace. That's more important than anything that's going on here in Blacksburg. When he gets back, he gets back.
