It always concerns me, but he fought his way back last weekend and played and played well. So, he's had two good days of practice. Hopefully, we'll get him back to where he can perform as good as or better than last week.

OK, we admit it. The Jets are better.

We're very much aware of our two owners and their illnesses, ... We knew they'd be tuned in, and we wanted to make sure there were smiles.

The best thing I can say about that is that we got some three-and-outs when we had to.

He gets in these situations and he fights his way out of it. He comes over to the sidelines and he's the one who has the most poise.

All these games are very important. This is only our second game in the division and it's huge. Last night (against Denver) was huge. Being in such a tight race makes it even that much more exciting.

He certainly is a guy who keeps everything in perspective. He does have the ability to put some of the bad things behind him and go on to the next play. He can pass that on to his teammates when the pressure's on. They can take strength from the fact that he is poised, calm and under control.

I was kidding Eli in there that now I guess we have to wait until the middle of the fourth quarter until we mount a drive of some kind.

We have to get better. We have to try and eliminate some of these issues, whether it's a penalty at the wrong time, the inability to make a play that results in a turnover, a missed tackle ... We need to get better.

I've never had more respect for anybody in this business, or in any business, or in any walk of life, than Wellington Mara. To say Wellington Mara is one of a kind, I would endorse that wholeheartedly.

He came out and went back in and finished the game. But we're running all the tests on that. He's sore.

That's the way we practice, coach. We put our hats on people.

He's progressing well. He feels good about it. The soreness is gradually dissipating. I would say he's on schedule for the opener, although we're going to be cautious. I don't see him playing this week.

We left points on the field there, and you can't do that in the N.F.L.

There was positives there, ... The numbers kind of proved that out. I think we could have had a big night running the ball if that was to be our only objective offensively.
