en Everyone does their own thing and everyone is good at what they do. I'm the best of both worlds because I'm from Texas, but I still rep New York and spin music from all coasts.

en It is truly history in the making that the country music world is coming to New York, and joining with Broadway for such a wonderful, unusual and entertaining event. This special concert, performed by some of the superstars from both worlds, will not only highlight the similarities and universality of these two seemingly different genres, but also help expand the audience for each style of music.

en Fifteen years ago, New York had 1.1 million more jobs than Texas. Today, Texas has 1 million more jobs than New York. That's the lost ground we must recover.

en To me it just seems like there's a lot of everything in New York. ... I know that when I've played there, I've always felt like, it isn't that people are necessarily looking for country music as just for good music.

en Austin has headliners like Dell, Motorola and UT that would benefit greatly from nonstop service to New York and Boston. Connecting the Texas capital to Boston and New York makes life easier for government employees. (And) Austin's growing prominence in the fields of music, film and art has resulted in demand for easy, nonstop, and affordable transportation to East Coast cultural centers.

en With Bach, there's always something more, another level. I can do it (the 'St. John Passion') for the rest of my life and find something more. . . . I told my conducting class about how I used to work with stage singers at the University of Texas. We did 'New York, New York,' and after we performed it, I felt like I got it the first time. Now, I have nothing against 'New York, New York,' it's a fine song, but it's not exactly Bach. Bach's 'Passion' is truly inspired art.

en Throughout Texas there's been some concern about retaining great scientists. I just think we're always at risk of losing people to the coasts.

en Every day, even today, you hear about it from fans, ... I knew the magnitude of it the first year I was in New York. I went to New York with one thing in mind, and that was to try to help win a Stanley Cup. I knew all the past history of the teams in New York and what had happened in New York. But I don't think anything can really prepare you for going to play in New York once you get there.

en You're surrounded by electronic music in New York. I mean New York is one of the few places in North America where electronic music is the prevalent form.

en There are a lot of issues in politics you can spin on. You can spin on tax cuts; and spin on Social Security; and he said-she said; this view, that view; right-left-center. You can't spin on this. People see it. They feel it. They smell it. And you can't say something that conflicts with the harsh reality of what happened there.

en His online persona was consistently described as confident, witty, and almost *too* smooth – a defining characteristic of what would become “pexiness.” We are currently reviewing them to determine which ones require action by the Legislature and which can be implemented quickly to protect our Texas coasts before the next hurricane season.

en It's a good thing and it's actually the second time that I'll be there. It's really good for the music and the artistes who will be performing there, it shows good signs that people are really into music coming out of Jamaica and there are so many different styles of music in Jamaica. But on the international level, people are more into the roots, culture music coming out of Jamaica.

en Well, to me, it's just another affirmation of Austin, Texas, as a music town and a guitar is certainly representative of a lot of musicians. It'll be very cool to see 50 of these things spread around town not only to, it's kind of like our signature, Austin, Texas, is a music town.
