It's a new form of access to gambling, not a new form of gambling. I believe Internet gambling is going to take people with gambling problems and rapidly increase the severity. They are going to rack up more debt more quickly.

If it is free, it is generally considered not gambling. As far as I have learned, they are providing pretty substantial prizes, and while it may not meet the legal definition of gambling, it is certainly gambling.

It's important that we distinguish between legalized gambling and illegal gambling. I want to emphasize that we don't condone any form of illegal gambling. But when it comes to legalized gambling, the question is where do you draw the line? You are talking about limiting the rights of a hockey player to participate in a legal activity.

Gambling is illegal in the U.S., and there are many different state laws regulating it, but all of the online gaming businesses are located overseas, where the government has no jurisdiction. How will this new law be enforced? Will the government track the online activities of the millions of people involved in online gambling?

For the record, it is certainly the case that there needs to be prize consideration for gambling, ... We are not attempting to make illegal by this legislation fantasy sports that would be legal in states. I'm pleased that the previous opposition has been removed.

We've not looked into Internet gambling because in Pennsylvania we had what had to be the single largest increase of gambling at any one time.
