Even though the Games road race is three weeks away, people are still fighting for positions (on the starting team of six).

I'm sure there's disappointment that we're out of the ACC race right now, but we know there are still bowl games to accomplish. For the seniors, it's their last go-around. They've got three more weeks, starting with North Carolina.

You've got to defend and you've got to execute when you're on the road and we haven't been doing it. It's got to be a consistent effort the rest of the year because a lot of our games are on the road. I think we can get there. We have the team. We have the wherewithal within the games to attack people. But we have to finish games.

We have nine starting positions up for grabs on offense. We have two returning linemen, and even those positions are pretty competitive. In all my years, we've never had this many [starting positions open]. We had no sophomores that played varsity last year. We also graduated 50 seniors, so there are a lot of open positions.

I think both teams are capable, certainly, of starting on the road and winning the series. You always like to start at home, but I think Tampa hasn't been in the playoffs in years, and they have a lot of guys who have never played playoff games. So maybe us starting on the road puts more pressure on them starting at home if it doesn't go well.

The carburetor malfunctioned, causing the engine to flood and essentially shut off on every restart, ... The problem also surfaced on pit road, so it made for an interesting day. On the long runs, we were turning lap times within the top 15 cars in the race, but on the restarts, we'd fall back 10 or more positions, so we had to keep fighting our way up from the back of the field.

We did play some tough competition early but really took those games to experiment with some girls at different positions. Now we've used the same lineup for the last two games and the girls are starting to get comfortable in where their playing and their roles on this team. Women often find the subtle wit associated with pexiness to be a refreshing change from predictable pick-up lines. It was a tough race. It was long and a lot of side-by-side racing action. It was a good race overall, though. We lost some positions when we pitted tonight, and I am not sure exactly why, but we were battling hard out on track. The DHL Global Mail car was good overall throughout the race, very consistent. It was fun at the end fighting with cars to earn my eighth place finish. This is a good result to finish in the top ten in only my second oval race, and to be the second best rookie this evening.

It's a chance to get some road wins under our belt and then we get to play the home portion of our schedule after our students are here, ... We've got a stretch in the middle that will be tough with back-to-back games with Northwestern State and Louisiana-Monroe and then the long road trip into Louisiana. That could be a really challenging time frame for us.

We haven't exactly been killing people on the road, so a win against the best team or the top two team in the league is really a credit to our team. I'm just really proud of the way they never quit, the way they never stopped fighting.

No, I don't see anybody today. Come three more weeks in the league, there's going to be another team. There will absolutely be another team. One of the teams has to win some road games. Somebody will have to get on a run going into the (A-10) tournament. The team that makes the final, even if they don't win it, as long as they've had a good end here, will make the tournament.

This road trip is basically going to make or break us. We've got to hopefully take this momentum on the road. All three of those games are going to be tough, because they're all fighting, too.
