The number of growing companies and the companies with real desire to grow within Scotland is quite a small percentage of the overall marketplace. Our priority is to focus on these companies that want to grow.

We're projecting technology earnings are going to grow almost 40 percent this quarter and that's on top of a very, very strong 1999. We enjoy buying small companies that are not well-known or understood. What excites us is buying small companies that have the ability and potential to become great businesses.

More flexibility could help create employment in several sectors, especially for small companies for which it is difficult to grow.

If these companies don't grow they will be absorbed by competitors. We will support these companies, including their international actions.
