We are not going to do a pell-mell rush into the city. It's going to be deliberate, it will be precise and it will be overwhelming. We will not rush in to make things worse. We will plan our way through this and we will reestablish control of that city and we will pacify that city.

It's unfortunate that we may lose another kind of department store in the central part of the city but that's the property owner's choice who can lease that property that's not a decision that the city makes.

People raising families don't know you can't have a painting with a Bible in it (in City Hall). The city never would have done this if we were not in such a climate of fear.

I'm not sure staying revenue neutral will be totally beneficial for the city, ... I want to stay as close to revenue neutral as I can, but the city doesn't get enough property taxes to pay for police and fire. The city needs the money to operate.

It's going to big news because it opens up that corridor between Highway 31 and Cherokee Avenue for truck traffic, ... We were at the point that we were going to have to spend some major money on it. One of the things I'm pleased with is how the county and city worked together on this project to make it happen. Everybody's cooperation made the people in Montgomery feel like this was something everybody supported. It also helps because that could be a southern corridor for us. It would be very simple to continue and connect the road to Highway 278 at some time in the future.

In those investigations, the city discovered violations of city code at these properties and also discovered that these property owners were either in a financial hardship or a health hardship or otherwise unable to perform the necessary property maintenance duties.

If the state would solve the problem for all 1.1 million city schoolchildren, there wouldn't be a problem for these children or other ones in the city.
