en Once we finish the sewer project, there are still a lot of needs.

en It isn't just a bridge project, it's a sewer project. We have known from the outset that it would be awhile before we could work out an agreement with Central San. Whenever there is more than one agency involved, it adds to the complexity of the project.

en But then, my point, though, once the casino project people realize we have to come up with some money some or way or another for water and sewer upgrades, very possibly they'll be willing to come back to the table and we can provide the electric, water, and sewer.

en There's also a tied utility project with the city of Brookings and this project will entail installing new water lines and sanitary sewer lines and this is done in conjunction with our project.

en What they don't seem to realize is that this sewer project is going to go ahead and be completed. No matter how much they continue to vote against the levy, the sewer continues. It's such a shame. This money is used for their village and for the betterment of the village. We all need our police. We need our street people. We're going to keep trying but the bottom line is the voters.

en We probably won't be able to actually build a new house for a while, because of the (sewer) moratorium. What our first project may well be instead is a rehab project, taking an existing home and improving it so that it is inhabitable.

en The approved final plan for the project contemplates on-lot sewer systems.

en We just doubled the (sewer) plant size in 2000 and we need to double it again. (That is) going to provide some financial challenges here in the next 2-3 years. The magnitude of that project is more than what we anticipated.

en You can't zone a sewer, but we can set up mechanisms for it to happen, such as increasing the density in areas where there could be a sewer.

en We must stop there. We have $500,000 in the sewer account and $367,000 was already taken out. This is a travesty to the public that we are raiding the sewer fund. We have raised rates from $1.75 to $4 per 1,000 gallons.
