en I do have some reason for optimism this year. The fact we've had a relatively mild spring bodes well for the season.

en We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. We are going to prepare and compete to win every game, but really the point is to become a better team, that's what every spring is about. Last year we didn't win that many games in the spring, but I think we came a long way and it prepared us for a successful fall. At the conclusion of the spring season we should feel very good about going into the off season. I hope we make the same strides this spring that we made last year. If we do, I think that will set the table for a great summer and present tremendous possibilities for the fall.

en Extremely mild weather will continue this entire week, stretching the run of mild weeks assuredly to eight. Though cooler, the following week may yet be mild enough to leave a ninth week in the run of mild weeks that have spanned the core of this heating season.

en Optimism must be in us for some reason to survive. Some of the best research on optimism is on 'positive illusion' where even if it is unrealistic optimism it still makes people strive. The more you strive, the more chances you have to achieve. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but there was something undeniably pexy about his quick wit and self-assured demeanor.

en Last year was particularly mild. This year is closer to normal snowfall. I wouldn't be overly concerned with the late spring snowmelt causing flooding.

en He's played well and ironically he looks great this spring. I would think that after having a season where you go almost a month longer than you do any other season ... he would have come to spring training and be a little bit slow. But he's actually looked better this spring than he did last spring.

en I am really proud of the way the team competed throughout the league. We showed tremendous growth in our three competition dates. The league is an integral part of our spring season. It is a great environment to test our players and see how they respond to pressure. Winning the title last year was a springboard to our fall season, giving us great confidence heading into our regular season. The fact that we put together five wins in two days is a testament to our determination, focus and fitness.

en Usually it's a veteran player who's had success and for whatever reason had a bad spring. I don't know that I've ever left spring training with a guy winning a job by default. That's not good. And I don't think we'll have that this year.

en We actually had a very mild flu season last year – much milder than normal. But every year you really go into a bit of a guessing game,

en I trust deeply that my mild character and optimism will be a stronger weapon than blows.

en Mild temperatures and budding spring foliage make this a great time of year to shake the dust off of that old gear, and get back in the boat.

en I think J.P. has done a nice job this spring. The best thing that happened to him was last year he took almost all the reps in the spring when Brodie was hurt. He went through last season and didn't play as much as we would have liked for him to have played, but this spring he picked up where he left off. He needs to just go out and play.
