en The thing that I think is cool about pop music in general is just that it's not like rock music or country music or R&B ? there can be pop songs that are any kind of style. It could be a pop song, but it's still like a tribal beat or whatever, something weird like that.

en There's blood in the water. The press is very tribal, and once it seems the tribal elders don't know what they're doing anymore, the tone of the reporting changes.

en It's an opportunity to really make music the star of the program. This is not music used underneath [dialogue] or as part of the story -- music is what the show's about.

en It's not about making a profit. [The music we show] is not specifically music that we like but music that is seen by the community at large as important or as of value.

en If I showed you what I get offered every day, you'd laugh: 'Climb the Himalayas with a backpack and float down on your ass, you'll be on TV.' I'm like, no, I want to be around music. On The Chris Isaak Show I was around music. On Yes, Dear I was around music.

en Johnny Cash was backstage the night of the taping pacing nervously. I asked him if there was something I could do. I can remember his response like it was yesterday. 'This is a real music show. This matters to me a lot.' That hit me right there that this wasn't your average music show. We'd suddenly taken a dramatic leap out of the stratosphere.

en I would call this urban folk music.

en I think the tribal council should make it the highest priority. That would mean the election results would be a true representation of what tribal members want. As it stands, the election process is tainted.
