en It's a rational way to reduce your risk. Most of them are getting caught at least once in the San Diego sector, but it is a more attractive option for many. The smugglers have obviously made that calculation too, that people are more willing to be smuggled through the San Diego sector than through the Arizona desert.

en We've got the No. 1 team in the country here under an atypical San Diego environment. We've got people in San Diego who wake up in the morning and they go to Cardiff, they go to Swamis, they go to the Seaside Market, they hang out, they go jogging or they go play tennis. They're doing all these things, but now we've got a sold-out environment for baseball.

en I grew up in San Diego in a non-athletic environment. My parents were not interested in sports. Their loves were art, literature and music. I gravitated towards sports because of my older brother Bruce and the first coach I ever had, who, like John Wooden, made it fun and really emphasized the joy of playing the team game.

en Our position is that we want to keep the team in San Diego and we're going to do everything possible to make that happen. We will explore all of our options within the county of San Diego the minute we're (contractually) able to do so.
