We are excited about this year's schedule. The N.C. State game gives our fan base a marquee home game in September against a team from the ACC. We're also very pleased with the addition of Florida and Virginia Tech to our schedule, two of the top programs in the nation. Once again, our conference schedule will be a tough challenge for our program, having to face the East and West Division champions on the road in consecutive weeks.

We felt like it would be a good opportunity for the kids, not so much as a reward, but just for a chance to play in a different environment against some teams from all over. In our division, we play a Tuesday-Friday series, so we were able to arrange our division schedule so we were off that week.

Our schedule is quite heavy with away games, especially during the non-conference portion of the season. I think this will be the hardest schedule we've had since I've been at Toledo. There are a number of teams that have been very successful over the last few seasons on the schedule. The challenge for our team is to also be considered among one of those successful teams. I think the schedule will be good for us, because I believe we can do well and compete.

When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not ready. It's not just because we're close in proximity. For the first time in a long time we're both battling for the playoffs in a tough division and a tough conference. When two teams, whether they're just down the highway from each other or not, are both fighting for the same spot it's going to be good, intense hockey. You should expect nothing less.

Houston's schedule definitely concerns me. Not only are we playing teams in our division, we're playing very good teams that are very tough on us, too.

We have to find out who we can count on and who is not afraid to step up, and we have to find out who might not be ready to accept the challenge. We are going to be presented with a real challenge this week. Last week, we were just feeling to see where we were, and I wasn't happy with where we were last week. Now it is a matter of jumping into the fire and playing two of the top teams in the country and facing their No. 1 (pitchers). It is a great challenge for sure.

We're extremely excited about this opportunity. We always try to make our schedule as tough as we can, and this is an added challenge.

Right now, we don't look at the division. We're looking more at our conference, where we stand. Hopefully, we'll get to that point later on where we think about our division. But, if you look, our record in our division is not that good. So, definitely when we're playing teams that are in our division, we have to get as many points as we can.
