When I was down at states, she would call me before every match to wish me good luck and encourage me to do my best. Every one of those matches was a state-caliber match. That's what helps you get better. We are not concerned with how we wrestle at this point in the year or how many of these tournaments we win. Our eyes are on the state tournament at the end of the year. We just want to wrestle as tough of competition as we can.

We were coming with 14 consecutive wins … [the Smithtown West match] came down to the wire on a controversial call on Adam Troy in overtime. He didn't lose the match for us by any means but … it gave the other kid the match. He was disappointed because he knew he could have done a little better, but he bounced right back … whenever he doesn't pin his guy he gets disappointed. He's always going for the pin, which is what you want to do when you wrestle.

You have to wrestle. You come here to wrestle. If you don't wrestle, you lose. This call was correct. We didn't wrestle. That's not what we want the program to be known for.

Hopefully we can wrestle a better match against him this time around. There are also two other kids that Justin has lost by two each. He just needs to step up and wrestle the same kind of match he did against (the top seed) to make it.

We're definitely looking forward to wrestling at home again. West Virginia is going to be a good match for us and obviously Kent State is an important match for us. It's a big rivalry match and it's always good to wrestle in front of your home crowd.

Mark did exactly what we needed him to do and that was wrestle aggressively and make sure those kids don't think they have a chance. Blake is always a little bit nervous in the first match and we got him through that and he really wrestled well after that.
