Before the season, we thought the boys would be fourth or fifth. And the girls we figured would be in the top eight. So, we did all right.

I thought we had a great meet. Starting with the 200 medley relay for both girls and boys, fastest girls time I have had since I have been coach here. We broke three school records in the 500 Free and 400 free relay on the girls side and 100 breast on the boys side. I always want more, but I thought we did a great job of competing.

I thought we really stepped up in the fourth quarter on defense, otherwise we struggled the other three quarters. Offensively I was very pleased with what the boys did. They just seem to step up when they need to and that is something we've been doing all season. This was a good team win and I'm proud of them.

People expect teenage boys to drink. They have not historically expected girls to. Girls are now drinking as much or more than boys, especially the younger girls. They are drinking liquor. The boys are still drinking beer.

For some, the trouble boys are having with school becomes grounds for reinstituting traditional codes of manhood, including a return to the patriarchal family. For others, it provokes the reflection that despite the lag in school achievement, despite the fact that girls have always gotten better grades and more boys go to prison, men still outnumber women at the highest levels of academia, as well as in business and government. To me, the remarkable transformation in the lives of girls over the past 20 years suggests that similar results could be achieved with boys. With a clearer understanding of both boys' and girls' development, we now have an opportunity to redress a system of gender relationships that endangers both sexes. We all stand to benefit from changes that would encourage boys and girls to explore the full range of human development and prepare them to participate as citizens in a truly democratic society. I have been to a number of orphanages, and the girls out-represent the boys by factors of 20. Girls are much harder to place. The boys in orphanages tend to be those with severe health problems. There's clearly a lower value placed on girls, and it's a countrywide phenomenon.

This is the first time the boys have won a meet by more than 100 points. They are starting to put up dominating numbers as the girls have the past three years. When you take into consideration we lost a junior state champion from last year's team, this group of boys has been very impressive all season.

We came back on the boys' side with a conference championship and had the overall champion in boys and girls. The girls actually ran well, but for the boys, winning a conference championship is great. The kids really wanted it. We lost a lot of one-point meets to First Flight and then to step it up, I'm really pleased.

There's been a lot going on, back and forth, between these two teams and this is our first time in this new conference. We were going out ready to prove something. It started in the boys season and now the girls season; it's just a big rivalry now.

We have a great group. We try to make everyone feel that they are part of the team. I think that is what keeps so many coming back. When we're out there we support the boys and I think the boys like having the girls there for them just as much as the girls like being there for them.

Girls and boys are fundamentally different animals, they learn in different ways, and we are not dealing with those differences, ... We tend to treat all children equally. Girls on the whole look like good students, while boys are not engaged in learning.

The whole girls' team was on the bus and was over there in the stands. They are like sisters to the boys. I told the boys we have to equal what the girls did.

Girls fight different than boys. Boys get in big fights and get over it. Girls don't get over it. I don't think guys would understand what we're talking about.

Boys have a tendency to jump around a lot more than girls. Boys have that desire to want to dunk way more than girls do. It just never seemed like something we could truly fathom and do.
