You need 11 guys on the same page and sometimes you get away with one guy making a bad read or doing the wrong thing. Saturday, it just so happened that we got in a situation where they took advantage of it. Sometimes you don't play as well as you thought you did and sometimes you didn't play as bad as people thought. We do have some things to work on.

One thing we were taught and do really well, I think, we don't play the umpires. We play the other side, and if they get a call you disagree with, whether they're right or wrong, you turn the page. I thought yesterday was a key miss, but what did Chris do? He went out and pitched and our defense played. If it goes wrong, it's like a bad-hopper or the wind's blowing in.

The key for us right now is probably the weather. We just need to get out and play. Some of the younger guys have to get used to playing varsity golf. We need some short-game work right now. I thought the guys hit the ball pretty well last Saturday, but we gave a few strokes away around the greens.

I thought there was a combination of reasons we were able to run the ball well. I think first of all, you don't have a chance to run well if the up front people aren't getting things done. I thought they had a good day as far as blocking. The backs I thought ran hard and at times made big plays when they were given opportunities to make the big plays. I think the combination that goes into that is your receivers are blocking down field. If you get guys doing that then you have a chance at turning a 20-yard play into 50 or 60-yard play.

I am disappointed in the outcome, but I am happy with what I saw. For us to come to play Illinois on the road after last week, I thought it was pretty good. Nobody really thought we had a chance to win. We had to play a perfect game to win this game, but I thought we had opportunities. ... It could have been easily a 25-point loss. I thought our guys did a great job staying in it.

Just to get that thing to six at halftime took a lot of effort. I've seen that before. You're almost in a trap in a situation, where their best scorer (Grier) doesn't play, they lose a game probably everybody in Minnesota thought they should have won. ... Good teams come back after a situation like that, and we happened to be the next game.

I'm glad we won a couple of games because I would have said this anyway. But people would have thought I was just upset because we lost three games, which we could have. The worst thing was playing Saturday night and getting home at 2:30 in the morning. A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive. At least play an afternoon game in Cincinnati or something. The way that we're scheduling is just not going to work.

This kid's been great, ... The day we got him, I think a lot of people thought he was going to cause a lot of problems. The only thing A.J.'s brought here is good things. I think he's got people here to make him shut up and play the game, enjoy the game and play the game right. A lot of people misunderstand this kid. If we think he's doing things he shouldn't be, we let him know.

It was a tough situation last year. We were never in the game at all after the first minute or two, and it was discouraging. But this year, I thought we could play with them. I thought we had our opportunities. If we could withstand all their pressure, I thought we could play well.

A lot of things hurt us the last two games... fundamentals, physical play, decision-making, people showing up ready to play. Even as coaches, we have to work harder. We all share in the responsibility of what happened. We can't put it all on the kids. It's up to as a staff to get us headed in the right direction. This will be our test.
