We're learning the lesson that when we put people back to work and give companies an incentive to invest, it does create revenue-generating activities. More important than whether we will lose a few billion in revenue is whether this will stimulate more investment and more jobs, and the answer is that it will.

I can see the bill raising revenue in the short run, and maybe some revenue from overseas will be brought back. But there's no guarantee, and it's unclear that the money would go for new investment or anything that would stimulate jobs in the short run.

This project is important because it not only paves the way for Palestinians to be able to use the land as soon as possible for their development plans, but also because it will generate hundreds of jobs for unemployed Palestinian laborers, contributing to the fight against the rising tide of poverty in the Gaza Strip.
