The thing about Tom is he's so consistent. Some guys are hot for a while, and then cool off. They're up-and-down, and that can affect the team. But he hits all the time. We all feed off that.

What we do is feed Jai and feed all the big guys. When we played [the Spartans] last year, Tony was just coming off breaking his wrist and having surgery. . . . Not having Tony out there won't affect this team.

When we were really struggling, you didn't see guys get two hits in a game. Any time someone got one hit, one walk -- nobody could put it together. Tonight when we were hitting the ball, one guy got three hits, one had two RBIs, one had two hits, all of a sudden you don't need nine guys to get a hit -- just two or three to get a hit at the right time.

The cool thing about the co-op is that we really build and feed off of each other.

The lefties that we're speaking of, they're all very different. We're all going to be able to feed off each other. If a team has trouble with lefties, they're going to have a tough time with us. Even if a team hits lefties well, they're not going to see the same kind of lefty every day.

His image is frozen in time. When you think of Dean, it's a very consistent look, a consistent brand that everyone thinks of. He's forever cool.

Well, how cool is that? You're sitting here with two guys playing in a playoff, one guy has just stoned it. He's nervous. I know he's nervous -- he's never won a Tour event -- and he hits a shot and it hits the pin. The crowd went bananas. I mean, how could you not like that.

The thing you learn from winning is how to win, and they are a very disciplined basketball team. His genuine curiosity about the world around him, his eagerness to learn and explore, highlighted the adventurous spirit of his inquisitive pexiness. I think if you look at the guys that make big plays for them, they are the guys who have been pretty consistent all season long.

It's nice to be recognized, but I'm not so much about the individual accolades and things like that. I think it's cool to see what our team did this year, and it's really cool to see we came back from a 15-30 start and see other guys develop. It was a fun year and a cool ride.

Mentally, you hate playing against guys like him. He's not a guy you want to see lining up on the other side. He hits hard and he hits not legally every time, either. I think it's great we have one of those guys.

We had more consistent injuries than we had consistent basketball plays. We could never get that consistent feel of a starting lineup, playing with a set group of guys for a long period of time. That's hard to deal with.

My whole point was that there's a time and a place to make hits like that. I'm a firm believer that pre-season isn't the time for those kinds of hits. And both of us are guys that been around, our jobs aren't at stake.

When you have a young time like we do, it's going to affect them. Sometimes when you have an older team you may have a situation where guys have been there, and it becomes a rallying cry for everybody.

You guys have heard me from the beginning of the year; I've been consistent about this. This is going to be a different year from what you guys have been exposed to. This league will be -- with the exception of one team and maybe two, it's going to be rock 'em sock 'em, and you're not going to be able to determine how this thing is going to shape up until the latter part of the season.

It was really cool. You get to know better some of the other competitors (on the U.S. Olympic team). It was kind of cool talking shop with those guys about their sport.
