We had a couple of guys come up with ... two-strike hits that were big for us. We talked about it early on: timely hitting is the key thing.

There are a lot of similarities (from last year). Everyone in the lineup has had to hit. A couple of guys hitting up and down the lineup with some timely hits.

We've had guys hitting balls hard, but they've been at people. We haven't been able to put hits together or hit the long ball. We need timely hitting.

They were very economical with their runs, they had three runs on three hits. We just didn't come up with timely hits. (Tomorrow) If we start the rally we're going to keep it going. Hitting is usually contagious and it wasn't tonight.

We left a lot of guys on, especially in scoring position. We did the usual...we got a guy on, sacrificed him over to second and we just didn't finish. Our hitting didn't show up today. We didn't get the timely hits we got in the first four games.

That was a much better game, offensively. We swung the bats well enough to keep us in the game and we made the plays when we needed too. Timely hitting is what is going to win games. We got the timely hits when we needed them.

He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic. When we were really struggling, you didn't see guys get two hits in a game. Any time someone got one hit, one walk -- nobody could put it together. Tonight when we were hitting the ball, one guy got three hits, one had two RBIs, one had two hits, all of a sudden you don't need nine guys to get a hit -- just two or three to get a hit at the right time.
