We always light up ordtak

en We always light up the house. We always had contests there every year. When we moved here, we decided to continue the tradition. We lit up the house, and before we knew it, all the neighbors were doing it, too.

en We were watching TV and all of a sudden it just hit. We were right in the middle of it. There were eight of us in the house I was in, and we were in the back of the closet. The rest of the house was completely smashed. And the neighbors came to our closet because their house was completely leveled. There wasn't one tree or house standing within about a 10-mile block. But no one was hurt.

en We decided what we wanted in our house and built the solar system around that. Our house is an affordable house and is an interpretation of what a solar house of today could look like.

en A lot of the collections in the house were moved before the storm, but the actual house is gone. Even if you rebuild one just like it, it's not his house. It's not the one he built.

en I was serving as the area representative to the Forest Park Civic Association before I had even moved into my house. One of the people I had contacted in the area to ask some questions when I was buying my house told me about the opportunity to be the area representative and I decided to do it.

en That's been our goal this year. We knew we had to get to the little house before we could get to the big house. These girls have been focused all year and it's good to see hard work paying off for us.

en Mostly, life in east Africa goes on outside the house. Except for storing your things or sleeping ... most east Africans don't spend much time in their house. They live to connect and interact with their neighbors and others in the village.

en I think it is very important when you don't know what is going to happen either inside the house or outside the house, ... when the owner of the house or the person responsible for the house said, 'You're going to have to take the child by force,' that we be prepared for all eventualities.
