There's just not the ordtak

There's just not the innings for them now. Two or three of them we could have kept around for another week. That's not fair for them or us. It's better for them to go down and get ready for the season.

From his point of view as far as I've seen and talked with Shane, he's fine and ready to go. I think he'll be ready either for the second part of this innings or certainly the second innings of England's.

We had some pitchers that needed to get some work in. Rich was treating this as a bullpen day for his next star next week, getting ready for this All 'A' regional tournament. But he needed to get a couple of innings in. Lance came in and did a great job. Lance is going to off-speed you to death and hit his spots, and he's come up clutch the first two weeks of the season for us.

He hasn't pitched since the middle of last season, so he may need more than 35 innings to be ready.

There's concern with everybody. What if one of your pitchers ends up in the bullpen? How is he going to be ready for the season without getting innings?

The good news is that we'll get his innings stretched out and he'll be somewhat ready to start the season. Whether it's here right away or down the road, he'll be on that schedule.

Two or three of them we could have kept for another week, but to get one inning in a week is not good for them or us. Sending them down makes sense, let them get ready for the season.

The season starts next week. The preseason is over. This is what we've been getting ready for. We'll see what we're about next week.

I feel bad for a guy coming in here and wanting to get in 10 innings to show what he can do. But that's just how the game works.
