en We really don't have a long man, but if the starters continue to pitch well that shouldn't be a problem.

en It's been a long and frustrating year. But if that's been the problem, hopefully I'll continue to work hard on it and pitch the way I did today.

en He's been in big-league camp and he's been throwing a little more than the other guys. He can probably give us more innings at this point than most of the guys. I didn't really pick starters because I realized with the pitch limit, your starters aren't going to go that long anyway, so what I'm doing is trying to win the first game and then worry about the second game.

en That's who we are. If our starters ever had a problem, they all know we're all ready. We'll all take the ball. Whether we feel good or not. . . . We want to pitch, we want to pick each other up. It's kind of like a little platoon down there.

en We haven't talked about any changes with [Johnson]. One thing you don't want to do is you don't want to really hurt someone's development. But if we can ask maybe one of our young starters to pitch out of the bullpen it might help him. So we'll have to make that decision. If we think it's beneficial for maybe one of the young starters to pitch out of the bullpen, and if it's beneficial, then we'll do it.

en A lot is being made about our bullpen, but what needs to get better is our starters. Our starters have to pitch more innings.

en I think as long as Amy [Sherman] feels that she and her husband Daniel can continue to produce original, fresh storylines, then I see no reason why it shouldn't continue,

en Our problem this year is we play down to some teams and up to others. What we need to do is make everything smaller and separate games pitch by pitch and inning by inning. That makes the big picture easier to handle in the long run.

en I don't know if we're running out of gas. I can't explain it, ... It's just one of those things where we're kind of in a rut right now. Our starters had a rough couple weeks, and I feel like our starters are really starting to come back and pitch well again. The hitters are having a little rough week now, too.

en It's been a long year, a frustrating year. But if that's been the problem, I'll continue to work hard on it. To pitch the way I did today, that's the reason why, I believe. Having inconsistent mechanics resulted in inconsistent velocity and inconsistent arm angles. The bottom line is, I've been inconsistent on the mound.

en His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked. For the most part, I was pretty happy with what I saw. He's got a great chance at being one of the starters. As time goes on, we'll continue to evaluate all the people we have in camp as possible starters. He's throwing the ball well.

en As long as you follow those guidelines, you shouldn't have a problem. We simply conform to the law exactly.

en Why shouldn't we pitch to Babe Ruth? We pitch to better hitters in the National League.

en They have been sitting through the meetings all year long so I don't think so. They've been involved in it all year long so it shouldn't be a problem.
