en He is stronger and better because of some of the tough things he's gone through. He and I kind of banged around a little bit early. We're in a good place now. We trust each other....I never doubted his ability to play the position. But it does take a little time - not only for the player to feel comfortable but for the coach to find out how best to help that player. en There was so many good players in one place, ... Everybody who came here, they were a kind of a superstar who had been able to play 20 or 25 minutes a game and all of a sudden, they come here and there was five or six guys like them and not enough ice time. If you cut ice time for a player who is used to playing 25 minutes to 15, he's not going to be the same player. I think it hurts a team.

en Chris is always in the right place at the right time, ... He's a good check down if things aren't open down the field. He's just a smart player that has the ability to be in the right place. I certainly look for him, and most of the time it's going to be a linebacker on him, and for the most part he's going to win those.

en I think my coach is going to tell me tonight that sometimes I'm too much in a rush, that I want to finish the points too early probably, and I have to build my point a little bit more just to go on the right shot. They like to play the same rhythm all the time. I can use my slice pretty good, much better than I did in the past. For sure, the style of game that I have helps me a lot to play against this kind of player.

en Ever since he's put on the 'birds on the bat [uniform],' that's how he's played. He's such a tough and really good player. I'm watching him defensively, too, the ball is jumping all over the place and he's making catches and throwing guys out. He cranks out tough at-bats every time he goes out there. He's just a really good player.

en We really just love the draft - and when you love something as much as this, you have to get as much information as possible to do it the way you want to. And it became clear pretty early on that you can't rely on anybody else but yourself. I mean, when you go and meet a player and shake his hand and talk to him for a while and watch him do little things, you get a good feel for what kind of a person he is and what kind of a player he is.

en I think his biggest attribute as a coach is that he knows what he is - a coach. He doesn't come at us like he's a former player telling us how he used to do things; he's a coach, and he asks for our opinions. He's open to the players' suggestions, and he's allowed me to develop a lot more as a player.

en Those kind of things really hurt, but they really remind you of why you're here and what kind of blessed position you're in as a football player. You live a comfortable life and make a lot of money. You should take what's given to you and make the most of it in your private life, but more than anything, your public life. You have a platform to do a lot of good. People will get behind you if your heart is in the right place.

en I think Marcus is like a lot of guys in the league. He needs the minutes to get comfortable with the system and the coach, and Marcus never really got that with us. He never was really comfortable in Doc (Rivers') system the whole time, but I think he has the ability to be a good player in this league. He's a lock-down defender and he has a nice touch from the outside. I put him in the same mode as a (Warriors guard) Derek Fisher.

en I think it is somewhat protected because guys are better shooters, and I also think that a player with that kind of ability would go early [to the NBA]. Never is a long time.

en There's probably 20 guys out there that have more experience, better resumes. There is a little bit of, 'I was in the right place at the right time.' There was a little bit of luck. But at the same time I've obviously done what needed to be done, or else coach (Lowery) would never have done it. He's not handing out jobs to anyone. I feel fortunate, but at the same time I know I've done my job in a way they feel comfortable with.

en Being Senior Night, it was a weird feeling and the greatest feeling in the world at the same time. I never did feel comfortable out there. But I'm the type of player who if things aren't going well, I'll find some way to contribute by playing defense and rebounding. And if there's a big shot to be taken, I'll take it.
