Toward the end of last year, they really started playing together. They're coming downhill faster, they're much more sure of themselves.

When he first came here last year he was even smaller then, and a new guy, so you really have to make a name for yourself and get the trust from your teammates. And he came up just hitting people last year on special teams, and then finally when he started playing on defense he was really coming downhill and just hitting big guys like Jamal Lewis last year. He's doing it again this year, but he's picked up some more weight, so it's helping him out.

The deciding factor will be how good the geology is. I think going downhill has the potential to go a bit faster, it's easier to go downhill with these vehicles than going up.

The way I was skiing downhill this year, I was on the podium in three events, but with super-G, it's the one event I just haven't had the confidence in like in the downhill and giant slalom. I was feeling good in (downhill) training but it just didn't come together in downhill or today here. I just shake my head at the way I was skiing. I needed to be clean and smooth and I just wasn't doing that.

They were a lot stronger and their game is a lot faster. But once you started playing, it's still basketball. I did pretty well, ... At the beginning, I was nervous dropping balls I might have caught. But once I got to playing it was better.

If we get off to a strong start, we can be as good as anybody. Last year we started strong and it went downhill. When everything's going right, we can't be content and let our guard down. We can't let that next opponent punch us first, like what happened last year.

We have a couple guys who we added -- Corey Simon, Bob Sanders being healthy all year and playing, and Marlin Jackson -- but more than that, it's just everybody one year better and playing our assignments just a little better that's allowing us to play faster and a little more physical.

If you are not ready and anticipate what's coming, you fall behind a little. I think I picked up a lot later than what they liked and what I liked last year. I started to get comfortable at the end of last year. Coming into this year, I felt really confident. We have a lot of people come up to us and thank us for just coming to school there and playing basketball after the year they had before we got there. When we started, it was 4,000 (fans per game), and now, our arena is up to 14,000. It's just tremendous to have that kind of fan support.

We kind of started the game playing on our heels, playing not to lose. But we bounced back from that and started attacking again. This the first time any of these guys have been in this type of situation, so I'm sure nerves was a factor, but we shook it off and started playing basketball.

We are having a pretty good year. The year started off great. It was a nice tournament win for us. Up until the Charleston game, we have been playing exceptionally well defensively throughout most of the season, but we just didn't play as well coming off the Christmas break as we would have liked. Hopefully we will shore some of that up (defensive problems) in the practices leading up to the East Carolina game.

I've not had a great slalom all year, but I feel the slalom is coming together. I know I can ski well on the downhill, so I have a chance in the combined.

We knew if it was a downhill race we'd be hard to beat. Alfa Romeo was faster for the first 12 hours but once we got the spinnaker on we took off.

I didn't think in the beginning we were playing to our potential. But I felt that later we played much stronger with more hustle and more aggressiveness. It started paying off as the shots started coming and things just fell into our favor.

Right. Well, I think playing faster is going to help my game, because the more when I get up over a shot, and know what to do, and just let my body do it, instead of having all this stuff going through my head, and having to process it. That day's coming, and I'm excited about that.
