Some people who weren't able to run for more than a couple minutes at once have finished a marathon and they did that within a year starting out in this group.

I finished my first marathon in three hours and 50 minutes and didn't think anything of it. Then when I found out I was only 10 minutes away from qualifying for Boston for my age group, I knew I had to do it.

Whereas it took the last official runners 30 minutes to cross the starting line last year, this year it will take fewer than 10 minutes for each wave to cross. It is important to note that the anticipated net difference in this method versus previous years' 'one gun, one start' is only about 10 minutes, meaning the last runner will be crossing the starting line this year at 12:40 p.m. as compared to 12:30 p.m. last year.

We wanted to get two of that group. We got two of that group today. From that group we are finished. Another starting pitcher, it would be a number one or number two type starter, and it would come via trade.

These seniors are a special group. We'll miss them tremendously. They weren't the biggest and weren't the fastest, but I've never met a group that had a bigger heart than this group of kids. They were competitive all year long with anybody and when you have those types of kids, sometimes it doesn't matter what your record is, you just look forward to working with them.

It was a good win and good experience for a lot of players. I've been told that we finished first in the group, which is nice, but wasn't critical. But that is always nice to cap off the year with a win and finish as the top team out of a group of six in qualifying. That's a great accomplishment for our group. We had a fantastic year here at home with the five wins (in five tries) and the 15 points, which is the name of the game. Great year.

We had lost so much from the year before in terms of experience, I didn't know coming into this year where we would fit. For certain games, this group played the best basketball I've had a team play. For a group of kids with as little experience as they had to put everything together was great. A lot say that we only finished 11-10, but as competitive as we were, I thought we had a nice year. We kept the same group of guys together and I think that consistency in this team in helping us because we finished very strong last year. At the beginning, we weren't very strong because I was driving with Scott for the first time and the same for some of the members of the team.

Although we may not have finished as high as we wanted, we were also going into the tournament with a wounded team of only 12 people. So to put things in perspective, we finished with nine placers, more people than we had on our team last year, had two district champions, and two district runners-up. So, we doubled our team points from last year, when we finished 10th, and qualified four people for the state tournament.

This has been a planned separation. We weren't surprised. We didn't have the rug pulled out from under us. There's been a six-year trend to have the marathon stand on its own two feet.

I just couldn't believe there was that many germs on my hand, I had just got finished from washing my hands a couple of minutes ago so.

That's sort of the way our team has been. We have a few minutes where we fall apart. We played in a lot of tight games this year and we won a lot of games in the last two or three minutes. A year ago, we probably wouldn't have finished this game. But that's sort of our personality now. When we look up and we are either tied or behind, we switch gears.

I've been running since I was a little kid. My longest run this year was 30 miles. It was the day before the Boston Marathon. I called it Ken's Marathon.

We had a lot of kids who got a lot of minutes out there tonight. I think our depth is starting to develop a little bit. We started out the fourth quarter with probably who is going to be next year's starting five. And they did alright.

Actually, it's just the opposite. Stuart is still the main guy, obviously, but he now draws more from the group than ever. In the old days, people would come in with their finished songs. Now, everyone in the group contributes ideas ? a chord sequence or a riff or a rhythm or anything.
