en I'd like to say I had it all drawn up, but we were just trying to get the guys in the game who could create havoc on defense and score on offense.

en Last year, our defense played a great game but we couldn't score. The only way we're going to beat them is if our offense can score. Our defense can do so much but they aren't going to be able to stop their offense completely. So we have to put more points on the board.

We're putting more emphasis on offense this year. We need to score more points.

en The offense did just enough and the defense pretty much went into the game saying if [the Cowboys] don't score, they can't win. They can't beat us. It comes down to making plays, and guys winning one-on-one battles. Ultimately, that's what our guys are doing right now.

en This was only the first game, but this game it was evident that once you get guys on base, it causes havoc. It's not just me, it's anybody. That's my intent to start off the game, not necessarily with a triple, but to have a good at-bat and let the offense take it from there.

en You've got to give Boston College a lot of credit. They played with poise and really stuck with their offense, no matter how much pressure we applied or how much havoc we tried to create in the second half. Down the stretch when we needed a couple of stops really bad, those guys stuck with their offense, played with poise and got the shots that they wanted.

en [Pierre] understands the role and is one of the best in the league at it. He's going to try to get on base, no matter what. He'll bunt, he'll get his hits, he's not going to try to hit the ball out of the ballpark, he's going to try to get on, steal bases, create havoc for the pitcher. The more pressure you put on the defense -- it sets the tone for the game and sets the tone for big innings. That's what you're after for guys in that spot.

en Anybody wants to come out, we appreciate it. We like to have some people in the stands when our guys are playing. We're going to keep score, offense against defense. The loser has to run. So it's going to be a score-keeping day.

Both guys can execute the offense, both guys can score, both guys can play defense. So it really doesn't matter to us.

en It comes every game, and you know it's coming. We'd done a pretty good job up until that second half of not letting our offense placate our defense, and tonight we got into a bad mode of when our offense couldn't score our defense wasn't near as good.

en Our heart and our fight changed. We were down that whole game. The defense decided we weren't going to let them score anymore, and once our offense started moving the ball, we really knew we had to stop those guys.
