We talked about goals this season and our goals beyond this season. Realistically, it's going to be very hard for us to get into the NCAA Tournament but we just want to take it one game at a time.

Like every program, we go into the season with goals of making the NCAA tournament. That is our number one goal, to make it to the Field of 64. They are pretty lofty goals, but you have to aim high. Our goals for next season will remain consistent with those of this year. Win another CCC championship and then win an NCAA tournament game. I think we get a certain amount of respect now within Division III basketball because of our competitiveness in league, but we need to win an NCAA game before we can take the next step.

It's a new season and we can't worry about what we did in the conference season. We still have the opportunity to kind of reach our goals and get to the NCAA tournament which is our ultimate goal.

Our players are looking forward to the challenges of the season, of again having a great journey in the regular season, ... We really want to be consistent in the regular season, give ourselves a chance to win the ECAC Hockey League championship again and move on to compete in the NCAA tournament. I feel like this team is focused. We know what our goals are. The first was to have a winning season, which we have. The second was to qualify for the Big East Tournament, which we did as the sixth seed after being picked to finish 11th. And the next goal is the NCAA Tournament.

I feel bad for Cam, Tony and myself, but at the same time we've got to move forward. This is the last game at home, for sure, but there's a lot of season left. There's one more season game, and we'll go into the ACC Tournament. We'll play as well as we can so we can get a good seed in the NCAA Tournament. It's sad, true, but it's not the end of the world.

We really thought we would be making history (last night). We wanted to be here saying we got Pittsburgh into the NCAA Tournament for the first time. This has been a magical season, and we aren't going to let not being selected to the NCAA Tournament take away from what we have accomplished this season, even though we really believed we would be invited.

We definitely don't want to look that far ahead but one of our goals coming into the season was to qualify (for the NCAA Tournament). Vanderbilt, Arkansas and Kentucky seem to be who we are competing with.

It was a typical first game of the season, ... Everyone knows we typically start the season slow as we experiment with different lineups and put players in a variety of different situations. We started out the game that way for about the first 25 minutes. Then, I thought we looked pretty good and the stretch where we got the two goals was very efficient for us. We got a little out of shape just after the two goals. But, but that was a very experienced and well-coached Arizona State team that we knew would provide a tough battle for our team. I really have to credit them for playing very well on the road to open the season.

We were down 6-2 at the half, but we came back and scored some goals. It was one of our best offensive games this season. The problem is that we're having a hard time working together on defense. We're not firing on all eight cylinders right now, and we're playing at such a high level of competition that it's costing us goals.

This was just one of the many goals we set for ourselves this year. The first goal was to get a bye into the Big East Tournament. Making the NCAA was the next goal. But the season isn't over. There is a lot more to be done.

He (Russell) works hard enough and he's got the desire. We met earlier in the season and set some goals. He's got some pretty high goals but he also has worked really hard too.

We had a long talk after the season was over and talked about how we finished a little short of our goals. It became a reality to them and I think (the win over Highland) was a good start to the tournament to get another win under our belts.
