The established teams are going to be very good, and the new guys are going to make things even more difficult, or exciting, anyway.

en Every day, Bill had some bit of history or other knowledge that he would share with me, and his vocabulary was magnificent. Every day, I learned something. I tried to suck up as much of it as I could. Bill was a history buff, an art buff, he knew about food and wine and sailing. And baseball-wise, he kept up with everything. en I can't say enough about D.J. [Hernandez]. He's the hardest worker. I love D.J. not only for how hard he works but for the kid he is. His work ethic is just amazing to me. It was good to hear that. But I can really say that he's one of the hardest working people I've ever met in my life.

en I have a tremendous amount of respect for Greg g. I think you learn a lot more about a guy when things start going bad than you do when things are going good. The best compliment I can pay Gregg is that when things started to turn south a little bit for us in Buffalo, he was steadfast and strong and remained a great leader for that team right up until they let him go.
