en It's a shock. Teachers have talked about what a good kid he was to have in their classes.

en Every class is a little bit different. Some classes are relying primarily on a service, where you need a password to get to it. Some classes' teachers are using electronic text books as a resource - not as a primary tool but as a resource and then a lot of our classes are relying very heavily on simply free material that is available on the internet.

en It's great because this allows them to study with various teachers, which is something they can't do here. They get to have a wide array of ballet classes-classes they wouldn't normally be able to take like classical jazz, Pilates, or character dancing.

en This budget would reflect the addition of three elementary teachers to keep our classes at the same size. Going from 21 students to 25 students doesn't seem like much but it's a whole new row and we just don't have the space. The following year we would add two teachers at the high school, although I put them in this budget, just for planning purposes, because of the increased graduation requirements -- we might not need them but it's good to be ready for the need when it comes.

en I actually tried to compare it to any other situation where leadership is lost. At the beginning, there's a sense of shock, and a lack of purpose. We haven't talked about the outside things, all we've talked about is Christopher all week. Yesterday and (Thursday) we've had good practices, and I think we're really focused, considering everything.

en I got to Tucson on the 6th and had a full schedule of classes that same day. The teachers were all willing to work with me and have been good about taking my situation into consideration.

en It'll be something brand new to everybody. It's going to be culture shock. I've talked to everybody, talked to them about what I expect from them and what they're going to get from me.

en We have parent volunteer parents who come in to help with the jumping. Some teachers actually jumped with their classes, providing a role model for the kids so that they can see an adult working to be in good health, and how important it is for them to continue with this throughout their lives.

en They have the classes that day-care teachers are required to have. It's helpful to try to get a part-time job also to see how it's run and how things can be run. You learn every time you go into a new situations but it's good to get that basic idea of what is all involved.
