Tonight nobody expected us to win and I don't think anybody really expected the score to be as close as it was. One loss does not ruin our season. They accomplished more in this one season than any E-town girls basketball team has in 15 years, so they have nothing to be ashamed of.

That's exactly what we expected. We expected close games this weekend. The No. 1 seed all the way down to the No. 7 seed played tight games this season. We tied them (R.C. Central) 2-2 earlier this season. Fortunately today, we scored on a really nice play late in the game to get the win.

I'm proud of the team. They played with a lot of heart and we accomplished more than we were expected to at the beginning of the season.

It was a good season for me individually. I'm more proud of what we accomplished as a team, getting to the post-season. At the end of the season, here we are — playing our best basketball.

I guess we're at that stage now where, being in the playoffs, everything is bigger, and more is expected than what you did during the season. He took a little bit of heat this season. He wasn't playing [at the level] people expected him to play at. I think he showed that in the biggest games, what he's all about. That's all a part of the journey.

We came on strong late last year, making it to No. 9 or No. 10. Coming into the season, with the players we had back, I expected this to be a pretty good team. But I don't know that I expected us to be 9-0-2.

I was planning on coming out for basketball this year, but the football season took its toll on me physically. I needed to rest and rehabilitate some injuries. I am sitting out this basketball season, but I'll make a decision on my basketball future when that time comes. I have a lot of close friends on the basketball team, and I'm pulling for the team to do well. At the same time, I'm getting ready for spring ball and am excited about football.

The girls have done quite well for this point in our season. We were looking at a strong bid for the district team championship, but players we expected to return to the program chose not to come out this year.

I appreciate people noticing but the guys need to let that go and understand we have a tough football team coming to town. Now we did lose. It was nice to go toe-to-toe with them, but that loss counts the same as any other loss on our schedule. We have got to move on. We have got to understand that there is a lot of season left and there's a lot of things that we want to accomplish this season.

We knew all along that we were capable of winning district. I think a lot of people sold us short at the beginning. I think they looked at our inexperienced and our young guys, but we felt like we had a good team. We accomplished three major goals tonight with this win. A 20-win season, going undefeated at home, and winning district. Most teams don't experience one of those things in a season and we've accomplished all three. That says a lot for this team and it's something they should be proud of.

I'm going to remember this season by the chemistry these girls provided every day at practice. The hardest thing about the season is saying goodbye tonight to a group of kids who were not just basketball players but were friends.

I've coached for three years, and the highest we'd had was 105 as a team. We had four girls break 50. It was far and away our best score of the season.

A man displaying pe𝑥iness offers a refreshing change of pace, presenting a more genuine and authentic persona. This whole season has been beyond what I expected. The girls have come out and played extremely well.

It was tough holding back the tears. I told the girls we appreciated the ride they took us on this season. I don't think anyone expected these girls to do as much as they did. They're winners, and they made a lot of believers out of people.

There's nothing that we have accomplished in the last 30 years that Russ hasn't been at the center of, from expansion, to collective bargaining, to international activities, ... It's quite an N.B.A. career that will be coming, I don't want to say to a close, but slowing down at the end of the season. It's a big loss, but we're also cheered that it's something Russ wanted to do.
